Ideal Reseller - The ideal reseller is someone that loves plants/trees, has sales experience and a good size yard in a great location.

Love fruit trees, have some fruit trees growing in your yard to show customers and explain how long it took you to get fruit and how much they produce each year. Even better if you grow garden food because it shows you have experience and knowledge about growing a variety of food in this climate.

Sales experience, having a job that you can work from home is ideal so that you can sell during the weekdays. Although most sales are on the weekends in the Spring and Fall, must be available during most of the summer. Customers like to ask a few questions before they are willing to drive to your house so you have to be willing to answer questions at least by message or text and answer a few more questions at your house. This is perhaps the greatest advantage we have over large retailers that are unable to have a knowledgable conversation about the plants/trees they are selling. And this is how you build a relationship with your customer base.

Location, you need a house with an area to stage your plants that is protected from animals. A good location is at the end of a road or on the edge out town so that the neighbors don’t get upset about extra traffic. Customers want to talk with someone that has a house in the city like they do that they can relate to. You also need access to a water supply so that you can water you plants to keep them looking well.

Strength, it takes strength to move plants around. Plants need to be loaded/unloaded onto trailers and moved around your yard to organize and loaded into customer vehicles. I use a small plant dolly to help with large plants but most of the time I use the strength in my back.

Advantages and Benefits – The commision is 30-40% which works out to $10-$100 per hour depending on many things. As an Independent Contractor, you have a very flexible schedule because you set your hours you take the days off that you want you decide which plants to sell and you own your customer relationships. You get a discount on our nursery plants to expand your own fruit orchard. You get to work from home and leverage your yard that you are already paying for. Meeting the homesteaders in the area and learning what they are growing is one of my favorites. Finally you get the chance to live your dream, to build an income outside of a job that could be taken away at any moment.
